Our Mission
To cultivate thriving children and families.
Our Vision
All Children have loving and stable families and a nurturing community empowering them to lead successful lives.
Landmarks for Families is essential to Charleston’s historic and cultural landscape. Founded in 1790 as the Charleston Orphan House, Landmarks for Families is South Carolina’s oldest, continually operating nonprofit and America’s first publicly funded orphanage.
Today, the mission of Landmarks for Families is achieved through family education, preservation, residential and reunification services and supports that teach, heal, strengthen and empower children and families.
Landmarks for Families programs and services reach over 1,000 children and families each year. Landmarks for Families serves families seeking support, families in crisis, and children experiencing homelessness or who are victims of physical and sexual abuse, neglect and abandonment.
Landmarks for Families is a 501(c)(3) organization.
