NOTE: As of Feb. 29, 2024, Carolina Youth Development Center (CYDC) has rebranded to Landmarks for Families. Our nonprofit, community programs and residential services remain committed to cultivating thriving youth and families in this new chapter.
Carolina Youth Development Center is pleased to announce the selection of Beverly J. Hardin as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective April 5.
Hardin brings a wealth of experience to her role with more than 15 years of leadership in organizational development and non-profit management, fund development, budget forecasting and oversight and building support networks and volunteer systems.
She most recently served four years as the Executive Director of Communities in Schools of Durham, where she expanded the Site-Coordinator program from operation in four Durham Public Schools to eight schools, and introduced an innovative new nationally-recognized service model. Previously, Hardin was the Director of Community Outreach for the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Nutrition Research Institute, and Director of Government Affairs and Community Development at Eckerd Youth Alternatives, Inc.
“We are looking forward to having Beverly lead CYDC,” said Shirley Hinson, Chair of CYDC Board of Directors. “After an extensive national search, it was very clear that her expertise and passion for serving vulnerable youth and their families along with her vision and innovative strategies would complement the Board and inspire staff in the next phase of CYDC’s growth.”
Hardin received her Master of Public Administration (MPA) from North Georgia College and State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from The Women’s College at Brenau University.
Hardin is a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
“This is an exciting time for the Carolina Youth Development Center and the work happening here is both impactful and inspiring,” said Hardin. “I look forward to joining this dynamic team and contributing to the CYDC’s rich history and bold mission of empowering and equipping Charleston’s youth to lead successful lives.”
