Academic Mentoring is in Back in Full Swing

NOTE: As of Feb. 29, 2024, Carolina Youth Development Center (CYDC) has rebranded to Landmarks for Families. Our nonprofit, community programs and residential services remain committed to cultivating thriving youth and families in this new chapter.

With the return of school comes afternoon academic support and mentoring in our Bakker Career Center provided through our Be A Mentor-trained mentors.

These mentors are local people in the community from all walks of life who volunteer their time and talents with our children, whether in the form of homework help, discussing goals or pursuits, or just playing some fun games or activities!

This year we even have a Thursday Math Specialist, Lydia Labaudiniere, who is spending time with each of our residential youth. She began assessing youth in late August and will work with each child on an individual basis to address their needs.

Thank you to all of our amazing mentors for making a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable children in the community!
