Strengthening Families Program
Landmarks for Families is proud to offer the Strengthening Families Program, a family skills-building group for families with children ages 7–17. We partner with local community settings such as community centers, schools, and churches, to offer this program that gives families practical tools and opportunities to grow stronger together.
Families will learn how to:
- Build positive and effective parenting and discipline skills
- Stay strong and resilient during challenging times
- Reduce conflict and manage stress, anger, and tension at home
- Help children build positive social skills and healthy relationships
- Support children’s success at school and at home
- Use mindfulness and monitoring skills in everyday family life
Together, these skills help families create safe, supportive, and connected homes while building protective factors that promote healthy childhood development and reduce the risk of negative experiences.
What to Expect
The program includes 11 weekly sessions. Each session begins with a family meal and typically lasts 2½ hours. Parents and children spend time learning and practicing skills separately with trained group leaders before coming together for fun, shared family activities.
Families who successfully complete the program celebrate their accomplishments at a graduation celebration.
Eligibility
Families with children ages 7–17 are welcome to participate.
