Youth Enrichment & Community Engagement
A Home For Growth and Healing
When children arrive at Landmarks for Families seeking residential care, they need a safe, stable place to call home. Landmarks for Families has become that home for thousands of children and youth who have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect over its 230-plus-year history.
Known as a leader in providing comprehensive treatment for children and adolescents who have experienced emotional, physical, and sexual trauma, Landmarks for Families individualizes services for the children in its care with customized treatment plans designed to meet each child’s unique needs. Landmarks for Families cottages provide temporary and/or long-term care for children and youth suffering from the impact of emotional, physical, or sexual abuse.
Residential Services
Landmarks for Families’ residential cottages provide youth in foster care with a safe, supportive, and homelike environment. Through comprehensive, individualized care, we aim to empower youth by helping them build skills, access resources and support, strengthen their well-being, and create a strong foundation for their futures.
NuHouse
Our transitional residential program supports youth ages 17–21 as they prepare to move from foster care into adulthood. Through individualized guidance and support, youth develop practical skills, connect with resources, and build the confidence needed for greater independence and stability.
TASC
Teen After-School Centers (TASC) provide youth with a safe, supportive place to learn, connect, and grow through homework help, enrichment activities, life-skills development, and positive adult mentorship. The program helps youth build confidence, make positive choices, and strengthen social, emotional, and academic skills.
Enrichment
Every young person deserves the opportunity to experience the ordinary joys, activities, and milestones of adolescence. Enrichment helps young people whose lives have been impacted by the child welfare system build a sense of normalcy through shared experiences that promote fun, connection, belonging, and positive relationships with supportive adults and peers.
Youth Rise Summer
Youth Rise is an individualized, goal-oriented summer program that helps adolescents learn, grow, and explore possibilities for their futures. Through experiences centered on academics, career development, leadership, and life skills, participants build practical knowledge and confidence while working toward goals shaped by their individual strengths, interests, and needs.
LYGHT
L.Y.G.H.T.™ is an evidence-based peer support program created with and for young people who have experienced foster care. The program provides a safe, supportive space where youth can connect with peers, talk about loss and life transitions, build coping skills, and find hope as they move forward.
YEA!
Youth Engagement Advocates, or YEA!, creates a platform for young people with foster care experience to share their perspectives and influence meaningful change. Through advocacy, leadership development, and connection with peers, members help shape a child welfare system that better understands and responds to young people’s needs.
Heron Microschool
The Heron Microschool offers a flexible, individualized path toward graduation for students whose educational journeys have been affected by trauma, school disruptions, or frequent transitions. By combining virtual instruction with consistent in-person support, the program helps students strengthen academic skills, rebuild confidence as learners, and continue progressing toward a high school diploma.
