Teen After-School Centers (TASC)
Landmarks for Families partners with the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (SC DJJ) to provide Teen After-School Center (TASC) services in the community. TASC is a nationally recognized program that provides youth with a safe, supportive place to learn, connect, and grow while building skills that promote positive choices and healthy development.
TASC offers structured activities and positive adult support during the after-school hours, providing a welcoming environment where youth can receive homework help, enjoy a healthy snack, spend time with peers, and participate in activities that support their social, emotional, and overall well-being.
Opportunities for Youth
TASC provides opportunities for youth to:
- Receive homework help, tutoring, and educational support
- Develop job readiness and employability skills
- Connect with positive adult role models
- Participate in recreation, sports, and community activities
- Visit colleges, libraries, state parks, and sporting events
- Build life skills, including cooking, budgeting, and financial literacy
- Develop conflict resolution, anger management, and communication skills
- Participate in community service and restorative activities
- Explore career and employment opportunities
- Take part in computer learning and technology activities
- Participate in community gardening and hands-on learning
- Engage in parenting groups and youth development activities
- Learn about healthy decision-making and positive choices
Eligibility
TASC services are available to:
- Youth ages 12–17
- Youth who reside in Charleston County
Youth may be referred by the Family Court, law enforcement, school resource officers, school staff, SC DJJ staff, or parents/guardians.
